QIDTI FULL REGULATIONS with Annex A 'use of logo' (October 2017)
‘QIDTI’ is a registered figurative collective mark owned by QIDTI Ltd, which runs as an Association for ‘Qualified International Dog Training Instructors’ under the regulations stated below. It is a condition of use that the mark shall not be used without indicating that is a collective mark, in turn indicating qualified membership of the QIDTI Association.
The QIDTI Association was founded by John Rogerson and his International Associates, as a not-for-profit independent collective of canine specialists, with the purpose to establish, maintain and publicise a register of persons, who have met the high standards of holistic, wide-ranging professional skill, experience and knowledge, and proven able to deliver appropriate canine training and behaviour services. Only those awarded Qualified Membership of the Association will be permitted to use the letters to indicate their status. The Association appreciates the huge variation and range of routes to gaining knowledge and experience and as such has drawn together the best and most credible internationally achievable high standard not available elsewhere within the industry, and aims to list all those who fulfil the criteria, in turn, allowing each the use of the identifying collective mark ‘QIDTI’, specifically to benefit the people and dogs they educate and generally to promote animal welfare.
The QIDTI Association’s governing regulations and administration details are set out below in four sections:
1. Management and Administration of the QIDTI Association, 2. Application for Membership registration and the conditional maintenance of it, 2a. Membership levels identifying those authorised to use the collective mark ‘QIDTI’, 2b. Standard required for Qualified Membership, 2c. Fees and Communication (mainly on-line due to international involvement), 3. The QIDTI Professional Code, 4. Complaints and grievance procedures
1. Management and Administration of the QIDTI Association
a) The Association will be managed by its Directors who will be responsible for all routine matters
b) The Association will consist of a minimum of four Directors and those granted membership at various levels
c) Directors may also be a listed Qualified Member and/or appointed due to their complementary expertise
d) The Directors will work in consultation with the membership as and where deemed appropriate
e) The Directors may delegate and co-opt persons of expertise to deal with matters arising as and where necessary
f) The Association will work to promote the standards set for the ‘Qualified’ level of membership
g) The Association will affiliate with the RCDTBP* promoting Registration & Continual Professional Development (CPD)
2. Application for Membership (registration and the conditional maintenance of it)
The Association actively supports National / International Registration and as such all, on application for membership, shall not only agree to abide by the QIDTI Professional Code of Conduct, but also the UK’s nationally agreed CAWC (Companion Animal Welfare Council) Code of Practice and all that it entails, which has been adopted and incorporated.
All applicants are therefore expected to have individually signed up to take personal responsibility for the professional standards set out by the CAWC Code, through formal listing with the Registration Council for Dog Training and Behaviour Practitioners (RCDTBP*), which was set up in the UK in 2010 as the official body to hold and manage the Register of Signatories to the CAWC Code, in regards to dogs. In doing so, each Signatory will submit and maintain their professional profile which, in turn, will help fulfil the portfolio and CPD requirements for Qualified Membership as stated below.
2a. Membership levels. [NB Only Qualified Members will be authorised to use the collective mark ‘QIDTI’]
QIDTI Association Membership is available at three levels:
i. Qualified Membership will be awarded to all those that meet the standard set for the level
ii. Student Membership is offered to all those working to meet the standards set for Qualified Membership
iii. Supporter Membership is offered for those who wish to support the aims of the Association
2b. Standard required for Qualified Membership:
Applicants must have completed a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate sufficient levels of: knowledge and experience in ten specified subject area’s related to the study of canines; practical training and handling experience in a minimum of five related canine activities; and a minimum level of teaching / advising of the dog-owning public and or training enthusiasts. Applicants must also pass / have passed a full practical and oral assessment of applied skills in their area(s) of expertise, to complete the process.
Qualified memberships are individually awarded and only those that meet the standard set may use the collective mark QIDTI and the Association’s logo to identify themselves as having demonstrated the requisite level of professional skill, experience and knowledge in the realm of canine training and instructing / advising, subject to the regulations in Annex A
2c. Fees & Communication
· All personal communication shall be via email and or phone, and general matters via the closed Facebook group
· No fee shall apply to ‘Qualified Membership’, however maintenance of RCDTBP* listing is required
· A one-off fee of £20 shall apply to all who wish to register as a Supporter or Student Member, which will allow access to advice via the Facebook group.
· Administration funding of the QIDTI Association will be by donation and or sponsorship, and any additional monies raised will be used to promote the raising of standards within the Dog Training & Behaviour Industry
3. The QIDTI Professional Code of Conduct (QIDTI PCC)
All members will
a) on application for membership, commit to uphold the dignity and welfare of the Association
b) adhere to the QIDTI PCC, which will be updated from time to time and as required to meet industry standards
c) maintain registration as a Signatory to the CAWC Code of Practice and take guidance from it
d) provide and maintain up-to-date contact information with the Association and RCDTBP*
e) work to meet and promote the standards set out for the QIDTI application and maintenance process
f) not use their membership in such a way to imply a qualification, until one has been formally awarded and written permission granted. See also Annex A for additional regulations of the use of the collective mark QIDTI
g) adopt and not describe themselves or use abbreviations as anything other than provided by the current regulations
h) interact with the Association in moving forward or allaying concerns or potential professional issues
i) work in a professional manner befitting the Association, the QIDTI PCC and the Industry
j) work to ensure their actions do not put the Association into disrepute or at the detriment of the Industry
k) ensure views given are independent and not inadvertently deemed to represent those of the Association
l) not enter any contract or pledge the credit of the Association or represent or hold out that he has the power to do so, without specific written instructions from the Directors of the QIDTI Association
4. Complaints regarding the services or conduct of QIDTI Members, use and misuse of status, titles and collective mark
· Complaints received in writing will be discussed by the Directors and if upheld, the member will be informed
· Members will be given 14 days to respond to any allegation and to provide a justification with any supporting evidence
· Following consideration, the Directors may offer a resolution and/or call a meeting or arrange a conference call, to discuss the issues, where both parties will be represented and may be independently supported
· Following further consideration, the Member and Complainant will be notified of the outcome
· Directors will have the power to remove any Member failing to adhere to the QIDTI PCC, and inform the RCDTBP* Executive Committee for their further consideration if applicable
· Should the outcome be unacceptable please note the following Appeals procedure: In cases of dissatisfaction over the outcome of any complaints, the Association and/or either party should seek further guidance from the RCDTBP*, to consider, advise and help resolve any outstanding issues (See also the RCDTBP* Grievance Regulations)

Annex A. Regulations Governing the Use of the Collective mark QIDTI and where stated, the Association Logo
The following guidelines explain how the collective mark may be used and which, on application, members shall agree:
· It is a condition of use that the mark shall not be used without indicating that is a collective mark
· The QIDTI collective mark must only be used by and to identify those who are listed as a Qualified Member of the Association, having proven professional judgment and abilities in Canine Training & Behaviour, within the areas of specific expertise for which they have successfully completed the requirements set
· The collective mark identifies those individuals granted Qualified Membership and care must be taken to ensure the mark is not used in a manner to mislead the public or used in any manner other than specified by the Association
· Only Qualified Members will be authorized to use the QIDTI collective mark
· Use of the collective mark and or logo assumes acceptance of all terms as set out in the agreement executed upon application and in accordance to the QIDTI Professional Code of Conduct
· Continued use of the collective mark and or logo assumes maintenance of requisite membership obligations
· Use of the collective mark and logo must discontinue immediately on failure to maintain requisite obligations
· Qualified Members may use the collective mark and or logo with their name on business cards, letterhead, marketing material and professional information, to indicate that they have met the standards for listing as a Qualified Member but may not use the collective mark and or logo on any product or product-related material
· Qualified Members may not alter the Logo artwork in any way other than to increase or decrease in size.
· The collective mark and or logo may not be translated or otherwise localized into any other language. Any localized versions must be provided by the QIDTI Association
· Qualified Members may not display the collective mark and or logo in any manner that suggests they are an employee of the QIDTI Association or in a manner that suggests ‘QIDTI’ is a part of their company name.
· Use of the collective mark and or logo must clearly indicate that all services provided by the Qualified Member are independent and do not represent the views of the Association
· Qualified Members may not use the collective mark and or logo in any manner that is derogatory to or critical of the QIDTI Association or the standards set
· Qualified Members must ensure their name, trade name, or company name appears on any materials where the collective mark and or logo is used
· The collective mark and or logo must not appear larger or more prominent than the Qualified Member’s name, product or service name, trademark or service mark, logo or trade or company name
· The collective mark and or logo may not be used in any manner that expresses or might imply QIDTI affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, certification, or approval, other than as set forth by the Association
· The collective mark and or logo, or any elements thereof, may not be included in trade or business name, domain name, product or service name, logo, trade dress, design, slogan or other trademarks
· The collective mark and or logo may not be used, combined or mixed with any other object, including, but not limited to, mixing another Logo with the QIDTI Logo to create a variation, other logos, icons, words, graphics, photos, slogans, numbers, design features, symbols, or website audio files
· The collective mark and or logo may not be used as a design feature on any product or service materials
