Knowledge and experience in ten specified subject area’s related to the study of canines
There is nothing new in setting the areas of knowledge and there are a plethora of courses available covering them to a lesser or greater degree. We require applicants for our full award to be conversant with the following subject areas: 1.Responsible Dog Ownership - 2.Canine Sciences - 3.Understanding Canine Behaviour - 4.Influencing Canine Learning - 5.Working with Problematic Canine Behaviour - 6.Human Psychology, Teaching & Learning - 7.Professional Services & Responsibilities - 8.Related Ethics, Laws & Welfare - 9.Canine -related Organisations plus we aim to recognise 10.Area(s) of Specialist Knowledge
Practical training and handling experience in a minimum of five related canine activities
Instructors and Advisors come from such a wide range of interests and QIDTI members will be listed with their specific areas of teaching expertise. Personal knowledge of at least five activities is required, encouraging a range of practical experience and an appreciation of the skills involved in other disciplines. Personal knowledge should be interpreted as having at least a basic understanding of a discipline through exposure, not necessarily actual involvement
A minimum level of teaching / advising of the dog-owning public and or training enthusiasts
A minimum of five years of specific contact teaching experience is required to gain the award for Qualified Membership, albeit varying massively from a couple of hours a week as a voluntary activity for a great many very competent Instructors / Advisors, to a full-time career / business for others
Applicants must also pass / have passed a full on-site practical and oral assessment of applied skills in their area(s) of expertise
It is relatively easy to attend a course and pass a test, and quite something else to provide the reliable client service required by the QIDTI award

- Confirm and we will immediately register you as a QIDTI Student member,
and we will send you a link to the private QIDTI face book group - Complete John Rogerson’s free modular education programme
- Complete your RCDTBP profile
- Apply for QIDTI accreditation when ready and eligible
